Ethnic background: Ghanaian
Are you permed or natural?
I am permed! i relaxed my hair twice a year. I would usually relax my hair at christmas because my auntie does it before she installs my braids. This usually last until May which is just before my birthday then i relax my hair again and install a fresh weave and wait until christmas again.
What are your staple hair products?
I love the the Aussie serum because it makes my hair feel really soft but i also like DAX or blue magic. I feel like it really protects my hair especially when my hair is really dry, it has so much oil but its good oil and that really nourishes my hair.
What is your favourite protective hair style?
I love braids because its just simple and i don't have to do anything but i like weave because of the versatility it has. I can curl it, i can straighten it and weaves allow me to be a different person which is why i can only to braids for so long. But i am going to stick with braids as my favourite protective hair style.
I currently have a weave in which has
12 inch closure
2 bundles of 16 inches
2 bundles of 20 inches
When did you first get a weave?
I think i was in year 7 and it was some woman in Ghana who did my weave for me. It was very painful but it lasted a very long time, so it was worth it.
Funniest hair experience?
I remember one time i was on my friends my space and her older sister had a full fringe and a slicked back bun. I thought "omg i really want to do that to my hair". So, i tried it but my hair at the front was to long and realised i have to cut a fringe. I asked my mum if i would be able to cut my hair and she said "no don't ever put scissors in your hair". I felt like my dream had been crushed, I went upstairs waited for my mum to fall asleep and then i cut a fringe. The next day she was going to work and i had wrapped my hair to keep her from seeing it. During school everyone saw my hair as well as my brother he asked me "WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR HAIR?" and i cheekily said i cut a fringe.....and then he asked if mum knows i obviously said no and he just responded saying okay cool see you at home. I got home and my mum killed me but eventually she ended up liking it.
What are your hair aspirations?
I do this every time i take my hair out. i want really, really relaxed hair that is literally blowing in the wind and i want it to be boob length. Once that happens I will only do braids to protect my hair and i will never do weave again.
